I stand corrected.

I would like to apologize for misspeaking in my previous post.  Dave reminded me today that there was a suggestion made for a song, it just wasn't via blog comment; it was suggested in person over a campfire.

And so, without further adieu, I give you....

Well, I got no comments, and no suggestions whatsoever from my last post.. Perhaps that's because I have no readers?

With no input from anyone else, I guess I get to make up my own topic...  So here's my inspiration...

whistle a happy tune...

Does anyone actually read this?
Probably not, since I don't post very often.

So here's the thing... I think it's time for another song parody.  I have always thought it was fun to make up parodies of songs.   I remember singing "Runaway Bitch" to the tune of "Runaway Train", "The Puke Song" to the tune of Kermit's Rainbow Connection, and I even recall some parody of Micheal Jackson's "beat it" reminding him to beat "it" rather than  children...

But it's been awhile..  and it's time for a new song parody....

So.. Your task, if you choose to accept it..  Is to  provide suggestions of:
a.)   a topic to sing about
b.)  a song to make a parody of
c.)  both of the above.

Anybody got suggestions?

The Puke Song

A few weeks ago, Ben had a day where he couldn't keep any food down..  He ate a plate of waffles for breakfast, but had lost it within a few hours.  After that, anything he ate or drank came right back up.   Not even the pepto would stay down.

I sang him a song to cheer him up, and I guess he liked it, because he has sung it back to me several times since...  It went something like this...

The Puke Song

Why are the so many songs about rainbows,
but not many songs about Puke?

Nobody likes it when they have to Vomit.
But what else are you 'sposed to do?

It's not much fun when you're tummy feels Ookie.
It feels so wrong to up chuck-it.
but as soon as you think you're about to be pukey,
Just hurry and grab a buck-et!

La Da Da Dee Da Da Dum...
La Da DaGh [spit] DA [cough, gag]
La Da Daggghhghghh [spewwwww].

C'mon Feel the Noise

White Noise that is. Without it, we would get no sleep.

They say some kids are comforted by the hum of a vacuum or a shhhing sound.. Well, cloudy's certainly one of those kids. It's like an "off switch" for his fussiness... If he's fussy (which he often is), and there's no apparent reason (hunger/diaper/temp); simply turning on some static will usually instantly calm and quiet him.

One day while driving in the car, he started complaining, and would not stop. So just for the heck of it, I turned the stereo to AM, de-tuned it, and switched all the sound to the rear speakers. Sure enough, he soon calmed down.. The next day, when he refused to sleep at night, I turned the (old analog) TV in our bedroom on to an empty channel, and sure enough, it soothed him instantly...

So now.. rather than putting up with the static screen lighting up our room, I burned a CD of White Noise. I know this sounds pathetic, but there are so many radio signals around, that it's almost impossible to find consistent static on the radio.. So I burned a CD from http://whitenoisemp3s.com/free-white-noise and put it on my trusty Sony. ( I still have the same one I bought in high school, and amazingly it still works..)

I think he might be outgrowing it now though; a week ago the noise was much more soothing than Mom or Dad's voice.  The last few days I think he may actually prefer us to the sound of static...

Hello cloudy, my new friend.
Ya know it's sleepy time again.
Because you're often softly weeping,
When you know you should be sleeping.
And no matter how we try to calm your brain.
You still complain.
Until the sound... of static.
